Well I just finished up budgeting again. Sometimes I just can't get enough of it :D
So what search am I talking about? The parts... the sweetest... sickest... most incredible parts for the most incredible and awesome computer EVAR!!!!
Yes, it is the end of the year. Bonuses are coming. More importantly... I need to build it soon before I have an absolute meltdown.
Here are the deets as to what I am aiming for:
Processor: Multi-core... dual? quad? more? Who knows!!!
Ram: Lots and Fast!
HDD: SATA. I am going RAID... for real... two of them actually... I am going to spend the money here for sure. I have some HUGE plans for this box. (storage wise)
Video Card: Gotta be awesome...
DVD+/-RW (maybe blu-ray or HDDVD?)
Network: Gigabit... no less
TV Capture (hopefully with cableCARD)
That last bit makes is sound like a HTPC... but it will be less that than other things.
Here are some twists... I am going with two different machines... true. One for Windows and one for Linux. Why? Lots of reasons.
Windows box will serve as as a media center device. End of Story. It will be dedicated to the media stuff... huge storage and the TV Cap card.
The linux box? Well I am getting pretty used to working with Linux, and I like it. It is sturdy and fun. Also my lappy is linux now. It will be my dev box.
I am excited... I am on the prowl!!
